Description
The 16 by 2 character LCD has been the standard project display for decades and remains the clearest way to teach parallel interfacing. Its HD44780 controller accepts either an eight-bit or a four-bit bus, and the contrast is set with a single trimmer. Pair it with the I2C backpack below to reduce the wiring to two pins.
