Description
Unlike the resistive probes that corrode within weeks, this capacitive sensor measures moisture through an insulated surface and survives a full season in soil. Its analogue output rises as the soil dries, and a short two-point calibration in dry air and in water is enough to turn the reading into a usable percentage for an irrigation controller.
