PCF8574 adapter that reduces LCD wiring to four pins.

Soldered to the back of a character LCD, this PCF8574 based adapter converts the sixteen-pin parallel interface into a simple I2C connection, freeing up most of a microcontroller’s digital pins. A trimmer on the board sets contrast and a jumper controls the backlight.
